D.C. police officers and volunteers from a group dedicated to publicizing cases of missing people of color gathered in three city locations last evening to search for information — any information — that could lead to Relisha Rudd.

The sad search continues for an 8-year-old girl who vanished from Washington, D.C. in March, months after her suspected kidnapper was found dead -- with her case getting renewed attention due to the case of a missing UVa student.

It's been nearly two months since eight-year old Relisha Rudd vanished. And her mother is on the defensive after questions about her actions – or lack thereof – before and since the little girl’s disappearance.

Sweet-faced 8-year-old Relisha Rudd deserved better. She deserved a mother who protected and cared for her and didn’t hand her over to a janitor.

Dozens of people gathered in Southeast Washington Saturday night for an emotional vigil to pray for the safe return of Relisha Rudd, the missing 8-year-old Washington girl who is believed to be with a man wanted on murder charges after his wife was found dead Thursday.
