Delta Sigma Theta, Eastern Region Partners with BAMFI in "See Me, Find Me" Campaign

The 2022 Delta P.E.A.R.L. cohort of the Eastern Region, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., developed the topic – “See Me, Find Me: Fostering Awareness of Missing and Exploited Black Children”, which is the focus of this year’s Regional Day of Service.

Bringing attention to this extremely important topic facilitates a shift to the narrative as we have found that when our Black and Brown children go missing, we don’t necessarily hear a great deal about their status on the news or in social media.

Statistics: Nearly 40 percent of missing persons are persons of color, yet, African-Americans make up only 13 percent of the population. Thousands of people are reported missing every year in the U.S. and while not every case will get widespread media attention, the coverage of white and minority victims is far from proportionate. To further enhance the impact of addressing this critical topic, the Eastern Region is requesting that its member chapters and individual members provide financial support via donations to our designated partner – The Black and Missing Foundation, Inc. Donations are accepted from March 1- 31, 2024.
